2015 Remembrance Day In Flanders Fields 'C' Mintmark $2 Coin

2015 Remembrance Day In Flanders Fields 'C' Mintmark $2 Coin

The following coin to be released after the Lest We Forget design, was this 2015 Remembrance Day In Flanders Fields 'C' Mintmarked $2 coin. The announcement that there would be two new $2 coins released into circulation generated massive amounts of interest across the public.

On Sunday the 19th of April 2015, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer announced the release of the first of the new circulating coins for Australia. The two coins commemorating the ANZAC centenary generated massive amounts of interest. The interest was so high the Royal Australian Mint created a media release with a list of dot points, to address relevant high demand questions. With some interesting and informative points made:

  • The coins will be circulated through banks, as per normal procedures with all of Australia’s circulating coins.
  • As the distribution process has only recently commenced, it may take a few weeks before you start seeing the coin in your change.
  • The coins are distributed based on demand.
  • Not all banks or branches may circulate the coins as it is based on demand.
  • The Mint cannot provide any information on what numbers have been sold to which bank. This is commercial-in-confidence information.
  • The Mint does not have any control over or know which branches will receive the coins.
  • The Mint is not privy to the internal processes of the bank.
  • The Mint has no control over what happens to the coins once they are delivered to the banks from the Mint.
  • The Mint does provide the coins to the banks with the understanding that they will be distributed as per normal circulating coin distribution methods.
  • The Mint has no control over the secondary market.
  • The Mint will not be selling the coins to coin dealers.
  • In the past with previous circulating coins, the Mint has held coin swap and counterstamp opportunities. There may be opportunities in the future for this but this has not yet been confirmed. Please keep an eye on our website or social media channels for any updates.

On the 22nd of October 2015 The Hon Alex Hawke released a media statement through the Treasury website for the release of the pictured In Flanders Fields $2 coin. In the statement he informed Australians that “For a limited time only, the public will be able to buy a pack of 5 circulating coins at face value ($10) plus postage and handling by heading online to eshop.ramint.gov.au A collectible version in special themed packaging is also available for $12.50.”

The RAM also posted in a media release on the 9th of November 2015 that “To provide collectors the opportunity to own the latest $2 coloured commemorative circulating coins, the Mint has held a promotion offering a 5 pack of the 2015 $2 Coloured Circulating Coin - Remembrance Day and/or 2015 $2 Coloured Circulating Coin - Lest We Forget at face value, plus postage and handling.

Due to overwhelming demand for both products, as well as cessation of production of the 2015 $2 Coloured Circulating Coin - Lest We Forget, the promotion will end Friday 13 November or when stocks run out.

Collectors can still purchase these packs until this date, so be quick to secure yours. For those who miss out on the opportunity to purchase a pack of 5 Remembrance Day coins, you will still be able to purchase the 2015 Uncirculated 'C' Mintmark Coin for Remembrance Day for $12.50, as well as the 2015 Remembrance Day PNC for $19.95.”

The 2015 – 2016 RAM Annual Report states that 30'002 of the 2015 Uncirculated 'C' Mintmarked Remembrance Day In Flanders Fields $2 coins were produced. The same report also indicates that a total of 2’151’000 coloured circulating type coins were also produced.
