Revered as the mightiest of all creatures in the Chinese zodiac, the dragon is a celebrated symbol of strength, wisdom and good fortune. In 2024, the Year of the Dragon coincided with The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary — an auspicious alignment celebrated in spectacular style with this Double Dragon release.

The reverse of the coin portrays two dragons soaring amid a background of clouds, encircling a precision-carved mother of pearl centrepiece featuring a three-dimensional sterling silver representation of the Chinese character for ‘dragon’. The design also includes the inscription ‘YEAR OF THE DRAGON’, the special ‘P125’ mintmark commemorating The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, and the coin’s weight, purity and year-date.

The obverse of the coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, together with the $2 monetary denomination.

The coin comes housed in a classic black presentation case, set within a beautifully illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by an individually numbered certificate of authenticity attesting to its weight, purity and maximum mintage.
