2024 Great Southern Land $1 1oz Silver Proof Chrysoprase Coin

$215.00
| /

The Great Southern Land series celebrates the timeless beauty of Australia through spectacular natural gemstone inlays. This 2024 release honours the lush rainforests of the continent with an Australia-shaped insert of chrysoprase — the vivid green gemstone often called ‘Australian jade’, which owes its verdant colour to traces of nickel. Natural variations in the stone mean no two coins are exactly alike.

The reverse of the coin surrounds the chrysoprase centrepiece with a teeming rainforest scene — flying foxes, possums, tree snakes, kingfishers, crocodiles, butterflies, tree frogs, cassowaries and orb-weaving spiders. Designed by Aleysha Howarth, the design also includes the special ‘P125’ mintmark commemorating The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, together with weight, purity and year-date.

The obverse of the coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, together with the $1 monetary denomination.

The coin comes housed in a classic display case with a clear lid, set within a beautifully illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by an individually numbered certificate of authenticity attesting to its maximum mintage of just 5,000.
