This striking 2025 release captures the world of the hive in dramatic fashion, pairing a jet-black proof finish with rich selective gold plating for a coin that seems to glow from within.

The reverse of the coin portrays a richly detailed honey bee at its centre, surrounded by four companions at work amid a black proof honeycomb field. Gilded comb cascades from the upper rim with dripping honey picked out in gold, silver blossoms bloom below, and the words ‘HONEY BEE’ are set letter by letter within the cells of the comb.

The obverse of the coin bears the Jody Clark effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, together with the inscriptions ‘NIUE 2025’, ‘ONE DOLLAR’ and ‘1oz 999 SILVER’.
