Released on 7 October 2021, this coloured $2 coin honours the paramedics and ambulance officers who answer the call every hour of every day. It is the third and final coin in the Royal Australian Mint’s series celebrating Australia’s first responders, following the 2019 Police and 2020 Firefighters issues, and this collector version carries the ‘C’ mintmark for Canberra — found only on the uncirculated carded release, never on the circulating coin.

The reverse, designed by the Royal Australian Mint’s Aaron Baggio, depicts two paramedics administering care to a patient around a central Maltese Cross set in a green colour-printed ring — the green of Australia’s paramedic uniforms — while twenty-four dots in the relief mark each hour of the day, a tribute to a service that never sleeps.

The obverse bears the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the denomination struck to the standard $2 specifications.

The coin comes encapsulated on its official Royal Australian Mint colour card, illustrated with ambulance imagery.
